New vaccineto fight against HIV

http://www.stjoenews.net/news/2009/sep/25/new-vaccine-fight-against-hiv/

According to Mitizi Teliczan, a health educator at the St. Joseph/Buchanan Health Department Aids and HIV are on the rise in Northwest Missouri. There is now some hope for the cure. In Thailand there has been research being done and untill now there had been no real signs of hope. Now there is. They are testing two preveously failed vaccines that seem to be working when mixed together. The hope of Mrs. Teliczan is that this vaccine will not only help to prevent contracting the strand that is now in Thailand, but hopfully help to prevent it here also.
I was unaware that there was more than one strain of HIV. I was under the assumption that HIV was HIV. I now know that I am wrong.
She has stated that the hope is that the strain in the U.S. is the same as the strain in Thailand. All that I can say is holly heck. This article I found very informative on the facts of how it is being tested and what the possible outlooks may be. This vaccine will not do anything to help those individuals whp are already infected but it may help those of us who are not. Along with the everyday practices of safe sex and such, if this indeed works - thaank god!
I hope that this works, this disease has been bad news from the very begining and for the hopes of protecting our children(who seem to be more active than we were at their age) I will keep my fingers crossed.
