Walmart starts selling coffins

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8333198.stm

Walmart seems to sell just about everything that the average person needs on a day to day basis. They have just gone one step farther. Walmart is now catering to cradle-to-grave needs. They are now selling coffins! The prices range from "Mom" or "Dad Remembered" steel for $895 to a bronze model priced at $2,899. Not only can customers of this store plan ahead, but, now they can pay for their casket over a 12 month period with no interest.
Oh my god! Now we can die on a budget. Will they let me continue to pay for it after I am dead. Actually, what I should be asking is "is my credit good enough to die on a budget." Amazing! I am at a loss for words, and that does not happen often. This is absolutely funny to me. What on earth would lead Walmart (of all places) to sell coffins.
My feelings on this come from being a former employee. They offer so much to the consumer now, why go and add an item like this. It is so non-personal. I understand that these items are not cheap, but Walmart. Who is going to want to walk into this store and purchase the very thing that their bodies will spend eternity in. I would not want to have to make that decision inside of a Walmart super store. This type of planing takes caring and knowledge, neither of which will they get from an employee who wants to go to break or that is just having a bad day.
Life is to short for stupid.

  1. Oh my I can't imagine. I can't imagine walking into wal mart and seeing this. And to make that kind of decision. Yes i need to go get some milk and ummm a casket? I think they are going a bit to far on this one.

  2. I believe the coffins are only offered online. I think it is a good idea. Death is inevitable, and how many people pass away and along with memories, there loved ones are stuck with extensive expenses involved with the caskets and burials. I think that purchasing burial plots, or even your own budget coffin from walmart, is the best way to respect your loved ones that survive you in the event of your demise.

  3. You need to embed the link. That means you need to hide the link behind one of the words in your summary. It'll add a point to each blog post.
