Police comb landfill to clues to Florida girl's death

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/10/23/teen.jane.doe/index.html

Somer Thompson, 7 years old, disappeared on Friday from Orange Park, Florida. Witnesses stated that she was last seen walking on the sidewalk in front of an empty house that is being renovated due to a fire. The young girls body was found on Wednesday, 55 miles north of Orange Park in Folkston, Georgia. But she was not just found anywhere, her body was discovered inside of a landfill. Authorities are treating this investigation as a homicide. Detectives have interviewed 90 registered sex offenders and predators within a five mile radius of the Thompson home. This case may also be featured on "Americas Most Wanted" this Saturday.
This story makes my stomach curl. The thoughts that must be running through this families minds. And, the number of people who were not only talked to, but, had their homes searched, holly crap. That is a lot of individuals in a very small area. The article also did state that they do know how she was killed, but they are not going to release any details. For them not to release something is bad.
This whole story makes me want to hug my children tight. I could imagine the fear, but would never want to go through this type of devastation. All crimes are bad, these, are horrendous! It takes a very mentally sick individual to touch a child. I can only dare to imagine what the little girl went through. I hope that they catch whoever did this and fry them.
God protect our children, for they are trusting.
